Facing life challenges can feel isolating, but you don't have to navigate them alone. At Willow Counselling and Psychotherapy, I offer a compassionate and supportive presence to walk alongside you. Together, we can explore the challenges you face, gain new perspectives, and lighten the load you have been carrying, empowering you to move forward with greater clarity.
Hello! I'm Nisih Freeman, a person-centred counsellor based in Nottingham. I believe deeply in your inherent capacity for growth and self-discovery. My role is to be a trusted companion in your journey, offering unwavering acceptance and a non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings authentically. I strive to build a personal and unique relationship with each client, grounded in trust.
My commitment to mental health support grew from witnessing the profound impact of mental health challenges on young people and their families. This experience ignited a passion within me to support individuals through their difficulties so that no one has to face these times alone. While the journey can be demanding, it is incredibly fulfilling to see how they grow and embrace life from a different perspective while navigating those challenges.
Since 2023, I have been working extensively with children and young people (CYP) at a Derbyshire Hospice, supporting them through bereavement and a range of related issues, including social and academic anxiety, stress, anger, relationship problems, issues faced by neurodivergent individuals, gender identity concerns, OCD, bullying, trauma, and depression. More recently, I have also extended my support to adults experiencing bereavement.
My experience also includes volunteering at Shout, a mental health support service, where I supported individuals of all ages facing diverse challenges such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm, loneliness, chronic illnesses, abuse, gender issues, stress related to work, studies, or relationships.
My background over the past two decades includes various roles working with children, young people and adults. As a maths intervention tutor, I supported primary school children from diverse backgrounds, including those with special educational needs. I also served as a mentor for disadvantaged young people, organised a dementia prevention project, and lectured in financial subjects at universities.
These varied experiences have provided me with a broad understanding of the challenges that people face at different stages in life. The journey through these challenges can feel incredibly lonely and confusing at times, but you don't have to walk it alone. It takes courage to seek help, and I want to assure you that you have come to a place of understanding. I aim to help you find a path towards healing and hope.
